A BRIEF HISTORY

Elmwood colts F.C was established in 1981 and derived its name after a small wooded area local to Rayleigh.
The club was initially set up to cater for boys who simply wanted to have the chance to play footballs. The club played many of its' home matches in the formative years at Fairview Park in Rayleigh.The club has had a great following over the years and owes its success to a long line of dedicatedand hard working committee members. One of the main driving forces within the club in the earlier years was the late Steve Layzell.
In 2002 the club acheived recognition within Essex Junior football when it gained the F.A Charter Standard. This was presented to the then club chairman, Brian Wallings, on the pitch at Roots Hall in February 2003.
Over the years the club has had many success stories both at local and county level and has run teams from under 7's up to under 18's. We have seen many a player picked up by the various acadamies throughout the Football League.
